02 | The Opportunity
The cafe sits directly in front of the bridge to Cokes, one of the most famous surf breaks in the Maldives. Every surfer, day-tripper and guest heading to the point walks right past our front.
Front-row position on the main route to the Cokes surf point.
Foreign and local tourism is growing fast and reaching new levels.
The island is set to reach its highest visitor numbers yet.
03 | The Rebrand
A new name and identity built around what makes this spot special: the surf, the drinks and the view. Natural thatch, pale timber and soft linen replace the red umbrellas and plastic furniture, giving the cafe a calm, modern beach feel that stands out from the path.
The new identity
04 | Brand Identity
Every colour, font and material comes straight from the setting: sun-bleached timber, dried palm thatch, woven rattan and warm evening light.

05 | The Bar Renovation
One counter serves passers-by on the path, the other serves guests seated under the tree.
Weathered timber, a thatched pergola and woven rattan stools, with the tree as a natural canopy.
Rattan pendants, festoon bulbs and lights wrapped through the tree make it visible from the bridge at night.
06 | Target Market & Strategy

Peak season
Our main market. Surfers heading to Cokes, guesthouse and hotel guests, and day-trippers exploring the island, all walking past our front.

Off season
Deals, combos and packages built for the local community, keeping the cafe busy and profitable during off-peak months.
Our approach
Instead of a long menu that tries to do everything, we focus on a small set of our own signature drinks and light bites, each made to be the best version of itself.
The place is promoted by the unforgettable taste of the drinks and exceptional service, so every guest leaves wanting to come back and tell others.
Fewer things, done exceptionally well.

08 | The Layout
Four zones, each designed for how guests actually use the space, from a quick drink on the way to Cokes to an evening event by the reef.
Two faces: a bridge-facing counter for takeaway drinks, and a cafe-facing counter serving guests inside.
Shaded tables beside the bar, under the big tree and its lights.
The main seating area, with warm ambient lighting, timber and all-weather curtains.
By the reef edge. Half covered for seating, music setups and events; half with shaded cabana seating.
09 | The Rest of the Space
The same timber, thatch, rattan and linen carried through every area, so the cafe feels like one place from the path to the reef.
The main seating area, with the white frame clad in weathered timber, a pale wooden deck, rattan chairs and cream all-weather curtains that close in bad weather.
A cleaner, brighter counter with pale timber, a woven rattan back wall and tidy display cases for pastries and cakes.
Left: seating & events
Right: covered seating
By the reef edge. The left side is half covered, with lounge seating and a small stage for music and events; the right side has shaded cabana seating.
A bamboo and timber arch with rattan lanterns replaces the metal arch, with a woven photo frame that gives guests a reason to stop and share.
After dark, warm pendants, candles and festoon bulbs make the whole cafe glow, visible from the path and the bridge.
10 | Rollout & Next Steps

11 | The Final Vision
Board & Brew is designed to be the spot people plan their day around. A glowing bar under the tree, natural thatch and timber, soft linen and warm light, all facing the path to Cokes. It is a place surfers stop at after a session, guests find on their first walk, and everyone photographs before they leave.
A look and feel no other cafe on the island has, that others will follow.
Signature shakes, the lit-up tree and the surfboard details create moments guests want to post.
Somewhere people visit Thulusdhoo for, not just pass on the way to the waves.
A concept built to grow, ready to bring the same look, menu and feel to other islands across the Maldives.
